Portobello road

On Saturday I decided to go into London with a friend I hadn't seen in so long, we first went to the Tim Walker exhibition in Somerset house - i would recommend this if you're into fashion photography or even just love the look of some of his stuff - then we visited the Marilyn Monroe exhibition in the national portrait gallery - pretty poor to be honest, just a lot of newspaper clippings. After we got these out the way we decided to head into Portobello market - SO GOOD!!

If you're visiting London for a shopping trip I would definitely put this up with Oxford circus and Camden market. Portobello is more vintage, and if you have ever been to the Florence market in Italy; strangely similar. It was filled with lively music and a lot of vintage market stalls, my kind of scene. The shops on the street were all vintage, and horrendously expensive, ( I picked up a jumper on the sale rail that was £90!) I guess though if you understand true vintage it's all about the material and the label to go with this, and personally i find it a waste of money.

There was also a lot of fur, so I would urge you to maybe stay away, as some of the scarves still have taxidermy heads attached. Other than that if you're into unique clothes, heavily beaded garments, creepers, doc martens, and dressing up this is definitely the place for you!
